Upcoming Events and Opportunities

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing today to let you know of some upcoming opportunities and events for the music program this semester.  Gilpin has been asked to perform at a few retirement homes and community events in December to celebrate the holiday season. All of these performances are optional, but I am trying to get between 15-30 students from Gilpin to participate. Music is a great way to spread holiday cheer to those around us, so please consider with your children the following performance opportunities.

The first event is a tree lighting on December 1, at 3:30pm, at the SolAmor Hospice of Denver located at 2460 West 26th Avenue - Suite 300-C, Denver, CO 80211. We will be performing a couple songs from our musical as well as some traditional carols. The event will last approximately 2 hours, but the children may leave once we are finished performing.

Gilpin has also been asked to perform at the tree lighting event on Saturday, December 8^th that will take place from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM in front of Café at the Point located on Welton Street. We will be performing a few songs from our upcoming Holiday Musical, including “Everybody, it’s Kwanzaa”, “Decorate the Christmas Tree”, “Look What Old Man Winter Has Done”, and “Hannukah Dance”.

Our final performance, which is mandatory for all music class students, is Gilpin’s annual holiday concert on December 18^th, starting at 4:30pm. I am excited for our first school-wide performance at Gilpin, and the students have been preparing for our musical “Pictures of December” to make this show incredible.
