Citywide Honor Band Information (update)

   Dear Citywide Advanced Honor Band Candidate,

We are so excited for this upcoming DPS event! As you prepare to audition, please refer to your teacher to make sure that you have all audition skills adequately prepared. Since we are able to audition only a select number of students per school, let your teacher know if you are interested in participating; they will then schedule audition times and provide you with the audition material. If you are selected to be in Citywide Honor Band, keep in mind that you have the responsibility to learn your music, attend all rehearsals, and participate in a professional manner.

Auditions will be held October 12-30. Your teacher will schedule the auditions during the school day, and will let you know the specific day and time of your audition as soon as it is made available to them. Please see your teacher to get your audition material and excerpts. Your teacher will assist you with learning the music. You will be responsible for being very familiar with the music by the time rehearsals begin on Friday, February 19^th.

   Sectionals

   Saturday, February 6, 2016, 1:00-4:00pm, North High School

Rehearsals 

Friday, February 19, 2016, 10:00am – 4:30pm, North High School (district transportation provided)

Saturday, February 20, 2016, 9:00am – 2:00pm, North High School.

   Concert

   The concert will be on Saturday, February 20, at 3:00 p.m. in the auditorium of North High School, located at 2960 Speer Boulevard, Denver.

 

   Parents, please plan on attending the entire performance. There will be a closing song that will combine all three Honor Bands to end the program. The concert will last a minimum of 1½ hours and will be recorded.  There will be an opportunity to order a copy of the CD or DVD the day of the concert.

   Dress: Students should bring their school’s formal concert attire to the rehearsal on Saturday. Nice dress clothes should be worn under the robe, including nice dress shoes. Your student’s music teacher will communicate with you and your child what will be required for the rehearsal on Friday.
