Spring Concert Letter


Dear Parents and Guardians,
The students from all grade levels have been working hard learning songs for our upcoming performance at the Spring Showcase on May 16. The concert schedule is as follows:

May 16, 2013
“ECE, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade Showcase”
5:30-5:40pm
"We Haz Jazz"
Musical performance for 3rd-5th grade will take place from 5:45pm - 6:15pm.
"Band Concert"
Elementary and middle school bands will perform from 7:00pm -7:25pm in the auditorium.
"Vocal Music"
Middle School Vocal Music students will perform from 7:30-7:45pm in the auditorium.

·         ECE, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade will be performing songs from America: Above the Plains, Colorado Trail, Arizona Way, and America, the Beautiful.
o    Performance will last from 5:30-5:35pm.
·         2nd Grade will be performing one song on recorder and one song as a choir:
o    When the Saints Go Marching in and Oh, How Lovely is the Evening.
o    Performance will last from 5:35-5:40
·         3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students involved in the musical need to arrive by 5pm to get in costume.
o    Songs: We Haz Jazz, Let’s Jam, Work Song, Old enough to sing the Blues, Up the Mississippi, Hobo Swing.
o    Actors: All actors have been assigned roles. All lines must be memorized, and students must try to wear clothes that look jazzy. For example:
o     
o    If a costume cannot be found, please let Ms. Pino know immediately, so she can find a costume for your child in the right size.
o    Performance Time: 5:45pm-6:15pm.
·         Elementary Band will perform “Hot Cross Buns” and “Au Clare de la Lun” from 7pm-7:05pm.
·         At 7:08, Middle School Band will perform a wide variety of songs (see website) from our book until 7:25pm.
·         Middle School Vocal Music will perform Shalom Chaverim, A Child of Song, I Can Feel the Rhythm, and a couple other songs from 7:30-7:45pm.
All students are asked to dress in clothes that are suitable for a performance. This would include modest dresses for girls, and slacks and collared shirts for boys. If you have any additional questions, please email Ms. Pino at Dorothy_pino@dpsk12.org.
